ASWAN - ONE NIGHT AT THE OLD CATARACT HOTEL
The Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan was built in 1899 and is set in a spectacular location with magnificent views of the Nile. Vistas of giant granite boulders and rushing waters of the First Nile Cataract extend across Elephantine Island to the Mausoleum of the Aga Khan. This grande dame of a hotel still retains its original Victorian beauty and was featured in the Agatha Chrisitie film Death on the Nile. The wooden floored verandah is the idyllic setting for early evening cocktails as the sun sets slowly behind opposing hills.

CAIRO - MEMPHIS, SAQQARA AND THE ISLAMIC BAZAAR
Spend an extra day in Cairo and drive through the picturesque scenery to memphis, the capital of the Old Kingdom, to see the colossal raclining statue of Rameses II, the Alabaster Sphinx and the ruins of the Templa of Ptah where Apis Bulls were worshipped. Proceeed to the Necropolis of Saqqara to view the Step Pyramid of Zoser, the Serapeum, the tombs of Ty and Ptah-Hotep and the burial chamber of Ounas, with richly inscribed walls.
This afternoon spend time wandering through the labyrinth of streets in the fabulous Khan El Khalili bazaar.
